The Role
I enjoyed my role and was given a wide range of responsibilities. The work environment was enjoyable and the camaraderie amongst the interns is very clear and a good experience.
I felt very valued by my immediate team, but less so amongst wider HR and IBM as a whole.
My task manager was incredibly supportive and helped me with anything I needed, however the Early Professional Managers are helpful in their capacity but the Foundation scheme as a whole is limited and has flaws.
Some days were a little tedious with hardly anything to do, whilst other days I did not get up from my desk and worked long hours.
I was given a lot of responsibilities as I was asked to attend client sites and look after deals on my own.
My degree is not at all related to my placement so little help either way in that department, but the business skills and knowledge I've learnt at IBM are invaluable and so transferable.
The Company
Can be quiet, much more young, lively and modern in other locations.
The Foundation scheme is a good scheme that works but I would suggest a rethink and discussion with the students coming through the system.
Lots of education on offer, constatnt development and learning opportunities. Hard to fault the amount on offer.

Working from home
This is where my issue lies. We were told 10 months into the year long placement that the amount of graduate jobs are VERY limited. Extremely disappointed with this outlook as a re many of my colleagues. A huge selling point of IBM placements are grad schemes and jobs, but THERE ARE VERY FEW.
The Culture
Not really this year. We are friendly and see each other outside work but rarely. My team have annual team meetings to see each other socially and professionally as the majority work remotely.
Portsmouth is pretty cheap for a city and a wonderful city to live in.
It's a student city so there is nightlife and social opportunities.
A few sports and club events but not very many people participate.
