The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement throughout the year, I have had some amazing experiences, I have learned alot. However I did find it difficult coping with the living cost of London which led me getting a part time job. However I would recommend anyone to take part in a placement opportunity.
Throughout my placement I was treated as any other employee within the company, given the same opportunities and respect. We had daily meetings in which we could all input and help each other with any issues we needed.
My managers were fantastic in providing support, during my year I did have some issues and they did all they could do to help and support me. Any issues I had I felt as though they were very easy to approach and understanding.
There was a constant stream of work which I had to complete, as a support analyst I was constantly taking cases, should there be times when it was quiet there are multiple classes and badges that we can complete throughout our placement. We can also sign up for givebacks and shadowing opportunities so there was always work to be done.
During my year I was treated just as any other employee and given the same responsibilities. There were team members who have been apart of the team for years, however I am expected to have the same responsibilities as them, this allowed me to develop my skills further as I was constantly learning and growing.
I have been able to experience and learn from my year in industry. This will help me in the future with problem solving and troubleshooting any issues which I have. The shadowing opportunity also allowed me to learn further in the field I would like to work in. However my course included alot of coding, which this role did not include, however I have been keeping on top of this in my own time.
The Company
In the office we are quite a small team, however we all communicated often, the office was very relaxed where we could have conversations easily with each other.
The placement was always organised we were trained before we started how to use the product and taken through each individually. We were always aware of what we would be doing next and there was no confusion of what we would be doing next.
The company invested alot of time and money into my year here. If I was helping at events they would pay for my travel, we had a moral budget to help with team building exercises for the whole team which we were allowed to organise two. We had many badges and certificates we could take part in to increase our knowledge in different sectors that we were interested in.
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
As an intern we are allowed to apply early for graduate application, there are many opportunities in different fields within the business to apply for in the future.
The Culture
In my location there was limited resources as there wasn't a lot of activities available without traveling into central London which some people were not prepared to do.
There wasn't many activities available in the area we were located. However any restaurants were reasonably priced. Living prices were quite expensive as I wanted to live in a different area, which also increased the price of travel.
Without heading into central London there is no nightlife around Bedfont.
During my year I joined a local hockey club, there were many clubs however you did need to travel for some of these and the cost of membership for some were quite high.
