The Role
Very valuable for experience, and building a knowledge on projects that happen in a real business.
Thoroughly enjoyed working with my team, everyone's friendly and provides plenty of help when needed.
Was assigned a mentor throughout the whole year. Regular meetings to discuss work progress, any problems, future tasks and even non-work related stuff.
Work load varied on a weekly basis. Some weeks would be super busy, other weeks would be less busy.
The great thing about this placement is the level of responsibility you're given. Rather than being treated like an intern you're treated as any other colleague with responsibilities. You're given portions of a project with work to be done and deadlines to be met.
Working for a big company gave me a wealth of experience into what a company does on a daily basis. Working with a team improved the way I work with people. And the training made available assisted me in my role.
The Company
Office environment wasn't always too serious, there were jokes that get thrown about.
After the initial telephone interview everything else followed smoothly.
Wide range of training resources made available. I was also often asked if there was anything different i'd like to do.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Healthcare from home
A number of colleagues I spoke with had done previous internships here.
The Culture
Most placement students came from my university but I didn't know them before I had started. As time has progressed we have all become good friends.
Cost of living within Bristol is quite expensive on your own.
Plenty of clubs and bars.
Lots of sports and society clubs.
