The Role
I have enjoyed this thoroughly as this placement has excelled my expectations. I have gained such fundamental knowledge and experience by taking on the CTC/CRA roles. It has also been very social which has made it a lot of fun!
Extremely valued because our opinions are always heard and acted upon. There have been instances where such decisions were changed solely on our opinions and therefore, this is evident that even senior people in the company value us.
At first, taking on such great responsibility seemed slightly daunting but I was supported through out the placement. I had an intern manager, partner line manager and also a mentor, all who I have worked closely with and have had meetings with (where I can ask questions and run through discussions). I felt very comfortable throughout the year.
I always had something to do. I really liked this as I felt like I was learning new things everyday and these jobs were of high quality too.
I was given great responsibility by tasking on the role of a clinical trials coordinator for three oncology protocols and also the role of a trainee clinical research associate. I am a valuable member of the team and have been given high priority tasks.
My skills have developed so much; not only my soft skills but also skills that are specific to the industry. Throughout the year, I have had many opportunities to develop these.
The Company
Very enthusiastic. Everyone in the office is so friendly and supportive as they are always there for you. I think the people I work with has been one of the highlights of this placement. Sometimes people bring in cakes/sweets/snacks for example if it is their birthday and everyone has great respect to each other.
It was really organised, we had our own booklets that we filled throughout the year. We also had many trips organised to other departments and countries where we undertook different courses relating to the job role. There have been other meetings that have taken place in order we get the most out of the placement so we can tell that it is well organised.
A lot as I have now grown not just personally but also professionally. We have had so many training sessions where we were fully trained on both our roles. I have liked the classroom training the most because it is more interactive and you can ask questions/discuss so I have benefited from this a lot more.

Working from home
Very as there have been interns who have come back to pursue a full time career in the company after graduating. We also had meetings where we were able to discuss our future and life after uni. They also gave us tips about interviews so that we can do well in the future.
The Culture
Yes, we were very social as there have been many trips, socials and sport activities to help build relationships. These were not only open for the interns but other colleagues in the company too so it was a great way to integrate within the company and find common interests between others.
It was quite expensive to live near kings cross so I commuted from home (but I go to uni in London so this was not a problem as I have always commuted). The cost is high in London regarding socials but we try to find deals where it is not too expensive as the salary accounted for working in central.
I do not have as much experience in this, but from what I know it is quite expensive compared to other places, however, there are always deals and sales going around so by utilising these, it can be quite excellent. It is always so lively as central has a great atmosphere/buzz.
Yes, we organised a lot of activities outside work. Many trips and socials. We have at least a monthly activity for everyone in the office and at least one weekly activity amongst all the other placement students so it has been really great. We also are hoping to get a volunteering day in the near future.
