The Role
This placement has been extremely rewarding and has provided me with incredible opportunities to build my confidence and also develop many transferable skills.
My colleagues were very welcoming and I always felt like a valued member of the team throughout my placement.
My manager was supportive of my development and was available whenever I had questions or queries about tasks.
I was often very busy in this role and was at times overwhelmed by the workload. But after working with my manager I was able to work out a compromise and create a better work-life balance.
I was a very independent worker during my placement and I was given a reasonable amount of responsibility throughout the year.
The skills I have learnt this year will be invaluable in my final year of University and also in any future roles.
The Company
Lots of my colleagues worked from home, so at times the office was not very busy. But this was only in the middle of the quarter, at the start and end of each quarter the office was usually very busy.
It was several months after my final interview when I was told I had been successful when I was told it would be two weeks. I was told that this delay was due to HR issues.
I have had the opportunity take part in a lot of learning this year and have successfully gained new qualifications thanks to IBM.

Working from home
I am very interested in coming back to IBM as a Graduate and I have already submitted my application.
The Culture
There were many other placement students at IBM and I worked with lots throughout the year. I got to know many fellow placement students on a professional and social basis this year.
I have enjoyed living in London, but the cost of living is very high. However, to compensate this IBM offer London weighting.
Working at Southbank is ideal as it is very central so there is a lot to do.
There were many different activities that IBM promoted outside of the workplace, such as sports teams.
