The Role
Overall, I have thoughtfully enjoyed my experiences at Siemens. The opportunity and scope that is available for interns at Siemens is huge. Many of the projects I have been involved with have been very unique in its nature and feel proud to have been a part of them. I would have liked to have been more involved towards the start of my internship as it was a slow start.
I have had a very good rapport with my colleagues throughout my internship. The fact that I work very closely with a large number of colleagues means we rely on each other to carry out and complete tasks, growing a respect and confidence between each other.
My manager has been incredibly supportive with every aspect of my time with Siemens. Everything from day-to-day tasks to my life outside of part. Made feel much more comfortable and welcome when joining the team which gave me confidence with my position.
Towards the start of my internship, my tasks were basic and had a lot of free time as it was a slow start getting everything started for me. However soon I become much more involved with projects that occupied most of my day.
Siemens Interns are given a good amount of responsibility which makes your work feel worth wild and valued. They also ensure that your responsibilities are not too overwhelming and all the support is there for you when needed.
Both my Excel and SAP skills have increased considerably over my internship as I am required to regularly use them everyday. I would say the skills that have improved the most are my soft skills. How to interact with colleagues in a professional environment and in meetings.
The Company
The office environment is relaxed and friendly. Good banter with colleagues which is always important.
The organization towards the start of the placement could have been better which IT equipment and software access.
Siemens have invested a lot of time and money in sending all of us on training days around the country to development our skills and ourselves as a person.

Siemens has a huge scope for employment prospects. They offer a very good graduate scheme were interns are fast-tracked through.
The Culture
The socializing was by far the best part of my internship. Siemens created a Facebook group for us all to interact. From that group, I was able to organize a house share with other interns which made it so much easier and funnier to settle in.
Lincoln is very cheap for cost living, especially when comparing it to my University living.
The Siemens site was based in Lincoln. Thankfully Lincoln has a University so there is nightlife. Coming from a large University city means you have to adapt to a different kind of night.
Yes, we created a Siemens 6-a-side team that played every week including completing in a Nationwide Siemens tournament held at the University of Warwick.
