The Role
I thoroughly enjoy my placement year at Hays. It has given me an insight to working in a corporate environment and has allowed me to experience the reality of everday working life. I enjoy working alongside my team and my fellow colleagues are very friendly and approachable whereby I can ask them any questions to settle any queries I have.
I enjoy working alongside my team and my fellow colleagues are very friendly and approachable whereby I can ask them any questions to settle any queries I have. I have not been treated like an intern and was given the same privilages and opportunities as everyone else. I feel valued by my collegaues.
I recieved all the relevant support and guidance from my manager and supervisors. This has been consistent throughout my placement year. I have monthly one to ones with my manager and monthly intern meetings with one of my colleagues who discusses how we as interns have been getting on during our placements.
Some days would be very hectic, whereby I will be constantly busy having various different tasks to complete. This can become quite stressful tryimg to ensure that I get everything completed. However, I managed my workload well. On the other hand, somes days have been quite boring whereby I dont have much to do and have been sitting at my desk bored.
I was given an immense amount of responsibility as when I first started I was shown the ropes and left to do the work myself. My manager would sit with me and give me feedback with how I was getting on but I was left to my own devices which is something I enjoyed.
It has given me an insight to working in a corporate environment and has allowed me to experience the reality of everday working life. I have developed my personal skills, customer service and interpersonal skills as my role requires alot of phone work and liasing with candidates face to face.
The Company
The atmosphre in the office is great! Everyone is friendly and bubbly. The morale is always so high and everyone is kept motivated by various incentives to take part in as there are various rewards to win. I am glad that the working atmosphere is so great as it has allowed me to enjoy my placement year.
The placement year was organised but not very structures as although there was help and guidance from my manager, the monthly meetings could have been more detailed and reflecting on perfomance. The intern meetings also started quite late in the programme as this would have been more benefical to start earlier.
I recieved classroom training when I first commenced my internship at Hays. Moreover, once I was 6 weeks into the programme I recieved offsite modular training whereby I was trained how to use their systems, take calls and to understand my job role in greater detail. This training lasted for 3 days and was very beneficial.

The Culture
There was a great social scene amongst my fellow placement colleagues as we all were introduced to one another during the intern meetings and we were given the opportunity to get to know one another. I was lucky enough to work alongside another intern who I got on well with.
There were always opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work as there were always events going on that you were bale to take part in and attend. This varied from an after work bingo night and sports day events. This was a great way to increase my networking within the organisation.
