The Role
Fantastic company with plenty of opportunities across the technology sector. People are great and very friendly around the office, providing a great atmosphere to work in. The job role was constantly changing and adapting, provided excellent experience to build on my CV and occumpanied my uni degree very well. .
The team I worked in were great, answered all the questions I had and provided constant support. They made sure I was constantly busy and doing valued work to contribute to the department as a value colleage. Gave me responsibilities to improve my skill base and build my CV .
Given all the support I needed, contantly answering questions and helping me improve my knowledge of Sony and of the business world. Was given all the guidance I asked for from my manager throughout the year so learnt huge amounts for my future career. Where as outside of my department recieved very little.
Yes constantly busy with tasks and responsibilities changing through out the year. Given plently of responsibility and was rare for me not to have plenty to be getting on with. My responsibilities also changed throughout the year which made sure I remained busy, interested and constantly improved my knowledge/skills .

Very relevant to my degree giving me skills I can use in my final year of uni as well as a a great experience for my future career whether that is in the finance industry or not. Received great training from the department and the skills I have learnt will be incredibly useful.
The Company
generally the office is relaxed and friendly. Can vary depending on what department you are in yet overall is a nice place to work. Full of interesting and friendly people as well as the other interns are good fun. The office itself is about to undergo refurbishment so is a outdated at the moment.
I am the 3rd placement student for this department so had clear tasks and responsibilities which then changed through out the year so was very well set up and organised by my managers. HR were OK in terms of giving support and the start. However getting set up with HAYS was a pain.
Received all the training I could ask for from my department. However I received very little in terms of developement, support and future career options/guidence from HR with very little knowledge given about the future career options at Sony. In general outside of my department I was not given much investment or support about opportunities outside of the area I worked in.

Doing a placement allows you to go straight to the assessment centre stage of a graduate role however they do not offer roles straight from doing a placement and offer very little information about getting a graduate role, if any! Also other issues including office locations and employee value yet great for 1 year only and for the CV.
The Culture
Placement students get on well with a good social scene throughout the year which really helps around the office. In general people get on really well and make life both in and out of the office really enjoyable, one of the many great aspects of the placement year at Sony.
Basingstoke is a cheap place with a fairly good amount of activities to do outside of work. As far as I'm aware it's a reasonably cheap place to live especially compared to nearby (London and Reading) and it is cheap to go and do activities after work. . . .
A few pubs and a club but fairly none existent yet places nearby.
Yep there are activities outside of the office to get involved in as well as activities to do with fellow interns. For example the Sports and Social club show movies in the office cinema, there is a Sony football club which is great to play in and there is a onsite company gym.
