The Role
My Legal internship at Siemens was very rewarding, I obtained invaluable experience throughout my internship and I never felt that I was withheld from participating. The quality of work and opportunities available were outstanding. Moreover, I always felt like I could ask for help and get quality guidance.
I felt extremely values by my colleagues who always found time to answer my question and help me when needed.
Although most of my questions were answered by my colleagues since my manager was in another office. However, on the occasions where I have asked my manager a question, she immediately replied the next day with a very detailed and helpful answer.
I have been particularly impressed by how busy I stayed throughout my whole internship. I was very fortunate to be able to work in Edinburgh for 3 months and to travel to London for meetings. I feel very fortunate to have been able to always work on quality work.
I was gradually (which I think is very sensible!) given great responsibility throughout my internship. Especially when I attended a public inquiry on my own in Edinburgh for several weeks. By trusting and empowering me with such responsibility my manager allowed me to quickly learn and grow.
I believe the skills that I learnt are in line with my career goals and my career path. The tips and experience shared by my colleagues were invaluable and will greatly help me with my future work.
The Company
Atmosphere in my team was very friendly and promoted concentration and a healthy working environment. The environment in the whole office was very bubbly and equally promoted a good working environment.
I was the very first intern my team had so this was a new experience for everyone. I think I was very lucky with my internship as the inquiry in Edinburgh just started and several important meetings appeared at the start of my internship. My team quickly reacted and organised for me to attend every event so that I didn't miss out on anything.
The firm and my team invested a lot of time in me, despite the fact that it had always been clear that my internship was only for a year. I never felt like because of my limited time at Siemens that people withheld developing my skills. To the contract my team and others at Siemens took time out of their days to explain things to me and to answer my questions.

Working from home
Luckily I was offered a contract from my manager. However, to my knowledge in my particular field future employment prospects were very limited. However my the job that I was offered is very appealing and very competitive in a very difficult job market.
The Culture
The social scene was very lively. I think maybe a sort of organised meet up between interns in the same office could have been organised since it took us all a while to find each other. However, once we all found each other the social scene was great.
Unfortunately Bournemouth/pool area is very expensive and unlike London the salaries are not increased to match the standard of living. It was very expensive to rent and to socialize.
Nightlife was very good however quite expensive. Furthermore, the office is in poole which is far from all nightlife, so organizing locations meet ups with other interns in different towns was quite hard.
There are a very few niche opportunities organised outside of work, but not many.
