The Role
I began with a lot of support, but we received a new manager who knew less than me, so received less support. However there were always people on hand to ask if I did want help. After a while I asked for support but people became to busy to help me through with the guidance.
I was continuously given new work to do, but after a while the projects were adding up and I was not receiving the guidance I needed to close them. I wanted to close off certain projects but I struggled a lot with time management as the weeks went by. This is because I had to balance long term projects with line support.
I was very happy with the responsibility I was given during my placement. I was immediately given the same responsibility as other colleagues on my role, and was always trusted to make decisions that would affect the production. Though I did not always get it right, this was a very good learning experience.
I learnt a large number of useful skills both transferable for any career, and for my personal career path, such as excel and risk assessment training. Every part of my placement has been a learning experience and I have taken away things that will change the way I think and act in a professional environment.
The Company
My office has a perfect balance of quiet working and light-hearted office humour.
For the most part the internship process was smooth, and ran well as my site had done this for many years, however there was a slow start. I was waiting a number of weeks for my PKI card and did not have many inductions at the start. This took a while.
I have received a large number of training, including health and safety, risk assessment and excel training.
