The Role
I really enjoyed my placement. I now have some very valuable experience and have developed all kinds of skills that will be useful for my final year and my future career. The people I work with are the highlight of my placement and are one reason why I would like to return.
I feel valued by my team and other colleagues around me. Everyone is willing to find time to talk with me if I put myself forward. The job role is definitely graduate level and my opinions are acknowledged by the people I work with, and I feel I have a positive impact on my team.
I am able to have one to ones with my line manager very regularly (on a weekly or biweekly basis). The feedback I receive is very useful for my development and by having a strong relationship with my manager I feel very comfortable discussing any support/guidance I need.
In the first few months the workload can be quite difficult to handle particularly as my time management skills were lacking but as time progressed it became much better. There's lots of work that can be done but it requires proactivity and initiative.
My responsibilities are very clear and feels like plenty of responsibility. It is possible to ask for more responsibilities if I feel I don't have enough but I would say that I do.
The training is very company specific and would be difficult to apply elsewhere I think but I have developed plenty of skills including my analysis, time management and organisation skill that will be very useful. They will be very useful for my final year and beyond
The Company
Very enjoyable and comfortable to be in. There's always people to have conversations with about the business and more informal topics. I'm able to be myself in the office and not have to change my personality.
The Placement programme changed with not much notice which was quite a shock and at times felt disorganised but overall worked very well.
I had 3 months of training and plenty of workshops to attend. I feel like the company invests a lot of time in developing the associates and I personally feel very happy with how much has been invested in myself.

The further along the placement has gone the more I have thought I want to return to TJX. There are a few very appealing job roles and the company is growing and becoming more profitable year on year. As a business student this is very appealing!
The Culture
Definitely! My fellow placement and other colleagues are very sociable and fun to be around. 100% can have a pint or two with them on a Friday evening.
Very nice to be close to London. I have enjoyed it very much although it is not that cheap, but it's a great social scene.
In Watford not amazing but it's only 20 minutes to London on Train. A lot of people live in London and commute to work but not many placements.
I was able to join a local Basketball team. I have also been on bar crawls in London with friends from work on the weekend.
