The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at Siemens, and would highly recommend it to any undergraduate. The year taught me a lot more than I expected, everything from how a big business runs to understanding the processes and detail of how an MRI works.
I feel very valued by my colleagues, I am treated the same as all other permanent engineers on my team and given the same responsibilities.
I was given support and guidance when I needed it but I was also allowed to work on my own and make decisions for myself, which really helped me develop as an engineer.
Very busy, but I work best under pressure and enjoyed the amount of work.
I was given full responsibility of major projects, I hired cars and visited suppliers. I had the same responsibility as an other permanent engineer.
They have helped me incredibly, it has allowed me to understand engineering applied to the real world. I now feel more focused at what I want to achieve and where I want to go after university.
The Company
Varied, some days when there is a lot of pressure and work to do the office would be quiet and serious. On the other hand, we had a great relationship in our office, and all had the same sense of humor.
Very well organized, everything went smoothly from day one.
The company invested in me a lot, allowed me to join excel training up to level 3, and complete lots of health and safety courses including risk assessment training.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
They are very appealing, there are a lot of opportunities within the company.
The Culture
Yes, we had a great group of interns and socialized regularly. We also trained and completed the 3 peaks challenge on our year of internship,
Very expensive, sometimes it was a struggle to pay for everything required.
It was good and enjoyed on numerous occasions.
Sometimes yes, we went go carting when I first joined. I also regularly attend the boxing/circuits class ran by the company.
