The Role
Overall I have changed significantly from this placement. I have become more confident, more efficient but most importantly I now have a strong drive and motivation to work hard and be successful. I believe my strengths lie in data analysis and this is something that I enjoyed throughout this placement.
I felt valued by my collegues every day. I always got recognition for the good work I did throughout the year but was also given aot of responcibility. This made me feel valued by my collegues. I never felt undervalued or that they did not appreciate the hard work i was putting in.
I was constantly given support and guidance by management and my supervisors. Whenever I needed help or advice they were always there. As time went on i needed less suport than at the begining however they were still always there if i needed their advice on a piece of work.
Each day was different. some days I would be really busy with constant emails however other days were more quiet. It also varies depending on where in the month you are, for me the beggining of the months and also in January were the busiest times for me throughout the year.
I was given lots of responcibility as time went on, at the begining my main responcibility was to run the environmental reports which in itself is an important job however towards the end of the placement I was given many more opportunities with more responcibility such as presenting in large meeting and designing new meeting rooms.
I also had the opportunity to have training on SAP and BW software with an external trainer. As I had no knowledge of this before and it was vital for my role I found this very valuable. I learnt all of the history behind it, its complexity and specific transactions that were related to my tasks. I now feel confident when using both applications however this has also given me the confidence to learn other new software packages. In future employment if I have to learn something from scratch I will no longer be apprehensive but instead I will be enthused to learn something new. For my final year at surrey I will be applying some of these skills into my studying. I want to keep a 9-5 working hours routine to make sure I have the work and social life balanced. I will complete all tasks as soon as possible rather than leaving them to the last minute and will keep a diary to monitor my work and deadlines. I understand the importance of final year and I am determined to make this last year count.
The Company
the general atmosphere is quite relaxed and calm. the office is quite spread out so it doesnt feel cramped. It is also a new building which is nice. veryone I met was friendly and willing to help you if needed. There are also some fun activities thoroughout the year which builds an even better atmosphere.
It was organised well. The Hr team were very good at organising my traning and timetable for the first few handover weeks. I felt confortable and fit in quickly due to the planning and organieation ebind the induction days. There was corresponcdence between panasonic and my university too which was good.

I personally have the motivation to work within a sector that focusses on peoples quality of life. Whilst Panasonic has this focus in the consumer products industry I would like to focus more directly on their safety and improving society. Therefore I feel that a future career within the police would be suited to my skills but also my personality.Although this will be a very different working environment to Panasonic, I know I will utilize the skills I have developed throughout this year to this role.
The Culture
Yes there were lots of event throughout the year that the students got to go to but also lots of events that were outside of work. As there are around 15 other students there was always some of us free to go to the pub or a night out in reading.
Reading is quite expensive in general, however there weere lots of deals on in local bars and lots of restaursnts to choose from. There is also the new shopping centre the lexicon in bracknell which is really good and reasonable prices. The cost of living is fairly expensive but worth it.
There are a few clubs and bars in reading but not many. There is the reading student union too if you wanted a more student base night out. There is also an hour train ride to london waterloo from bracknell station though which is good for a bigger night out.
There were a few events throughout the year outside of work, especially charity events. There was a bracknell half marathon for macmillan cancer research and a charity golf day. There were also lots of events with the students through out the year to socialise and get to know each other better.
