The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, although hard and challenging at times, this is what being on placement is about, constant learning and constant experience gained. I got to do what I had wanted to do before I joined, which is sales, and as an intern this is not easy to come by, using my initiative this year was key to my success.
I felt valued by most people, those that want you to succeed I surrounded myself with. others can be difficult to gage but I didn't look to them to feel valued
Support was given if you asked for it. it depends on each managers approach was difference, just don't be afraid to ask for help!
most days, very busy, but that was my own doing. As I chosen to enter that world, it also meant I had to keep my operational core tasks, combined with sales, this would see me have full on days. but a learning opportunity to balance what is critical at the time and what isn't
a high amount for sales I was just like any other digital seller, I had accounts I had to look after, however i would always goes to the experienced member of the teams for help if needed. for operations too; work produced would go on to SLT and the Director
It helps with developing mature skills to help wth final year studies, and alot of the skills can easily be transfeered to other job oppurtunities that may present itself in the future.
The Company
good atmosphere all round!
the Foundation scheme that IBM has is amazing, very organized. each sector within IBM should set you up and gradually get you started to your placement
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
very appealing, I will be applying back as a grad myself
The Culture
yes - on your day of induction you'll meet a lot of interns who you will enroll with, I would recommend starting a group chat with them and your social scene will follow
depends if you go out for lunch a lot/drink outside of work, but if you get a student loan, you should be fine
a lot of 'Give back' opportunities
