The Role
Overall, my placement experience was enjoyable. The work was demanding as I was placed in a very busy branch but I had a lovely team that made work fun despite the long day. I feel I have gained valuable experience in various areas of the business that will be useful to me in my career going forward.
I got on really well with my team. There was a good culture of team work that meant everyone worked together to get through the day.
Support and guidance was given however not always as often as I would have liked. The busy nature of the business meant a lot of the time there was little time for training and monitoring.
It varied depending on the day but most of the time I would say we were quite busy.
I was given a range of responsibilities throughout my placement which gave me a thorough understanding of the business. Having different responsibilities was good as it developed my skills in a number of areas.
I believe the skills I have developed will be really useful to me in my career and my studies. People skills and managing tasks will be useful in my career progression and in my studies working in a consistent routine, problem solving and time-management will helpful.
The Company
Usually a fun environment where everyone got on well and felt free to be themselves - made work more enjoyable.
Well organized from the interview stage to training to starting work in the branch.
I took part in a number of training sessions throughout my placement which developed my skills as I became more experienced within the company. These training sessions were useful but I feel I could have received more personal training with my manager in my first few months.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Managing a branch definitely appeals to me but I would rather pursue a career in an industry I'm more interested in.
The Culture
Not the best social scene - something I would of liked there to be more!
I lived at home so did not have many living costs.
Elite club was an opportunity for the best sellers to go out somewhere nice each month, there were also charitable opportunities to get involved in.
