About You
The insight programme has been truly fantastic to help me understand the work that takes place in a multinational accounting firm. I have met so many brilliant people who have helped me so much on the placement, and even now I am still in contact with many who are always there to assist me.
During my time at EY, I was made to feel valued, with EY certainly taking good care of us throughout our time at the firm. Some exposure to senior staff made me feel like I mattered, and I felt that the firm really tried to ensure we got the most out of this experience.
I was given plenty of support and this really made my time even more worthwhile. I was fortunate to get advice on the work carried out in accounting firms as well as seeing the potential career opportunities that would be available to me after graduating. They made sure I was making the most of my time.
I was placed within the technology sector, which is extremely different to my undergraduate degree studies. However, I completed a project on product management. This required me to conduct extensive research and reference the sites where the information was obtained from. This will help me further when completing essays in different modules.
The Company
The insight day was very well structured. Timing was kept very well and each task had a clear purpose and focus. Timings kept by HR were done well with us starting and finishing at the exact times stated. Prior to the event an intinery was sent out to allow us to understand the structure of the day.
The atmosphere around the accounting firm was really calm and relaxed. The staff were always willing to help and mad sure I was always ok. Everyone was very helpful and was eager to speak with me throughout the week. The intern cohort also bonded well making for a great atmosphere.
I felt well-invested in by the firm, however, as this was a short insight programme, we did not receive any formal training, although I would not except any at this early stage. However, EY certainly invested in our personal development, ensuring we left the insight more confident and informed of the industry.
I was able to appreciate the work and skills required in order to thrive in a full time role at the firm. This has helped me understand what the work would be like, and prior to this experience I was not aware of this. Again the session on career paths was extremely useful.
Very much so. Through networking with everyone on the team, a common theme I noticed is that EY is very much a peoples firm. Everyone is extremely friendly and is always willing to help you. They have many internal social events, showing the togetherness of the firm. The different building sites also have different cultures so it was nice to experience it.
The content was very helpful in deciding my future career. I know now the difference between the different service lines. It is clear the breakdown and differences between the divisions. It helped me understand what EY is about and the different routes to progress within the different areas within work.
Everything Else
I was paid for my time spent at EY, which was a very generous salary.
Yes, there were lots of networking opportunities during this insight programme. I had the opportunity to speak with the recent graduate intake, which I found to be very beneficial. Furthermore, we had the opportunity to network with a number of senior members of the organisation also, which again, was a great opportunity!
Really enjoyable networking and social events!
Yes, PwC employees have the opportunity to get involved in lots of different opportunities!
I would absolutely recommend this insight at PwC to a friend!
