The Role
Lots of ups and downs but worth the experience.
The last 4 months I became more valuable to other employees due to the knowledge I had gathered over the year. I could contribute a lot more in meetings and on projects because I knew what I was talking about.
My support came more from the team and my mentor that my managers but if I did have any issues my managers were available to discuss further and provide solutions If I couldn't come up with one myself.
This was very varied. I always had my on-going daily jobs but some days this was all I had to do which could become a bit tedious. Other days I would have lots of meetings or a lot of work to do, this was where my time management came in.
I ran quite a few projects straight from the start of my year in industry so responsibility was something I got lot of. But with responsibility I also had to be aware of any issues during this time and feed them back to the wider team.
One of my jobs was photography and editing images which I think might become outdated. My soft skills that I improved like communication with international countries and presentation skills will be skills I take forward through to later life.
The Company
Very chilled office, although for me it was too quiet. There was no background music and most of the time it is just fingers typing away on keyboards. Although there are moments especially in my department in data management where we would have a laugh.
Well considering I applied for product management and was offered marketing but then was placed in data management on my induction day- this was very unorganised.
So throughout the year we had training days for all interns that were specific to one soft skill. This was very useful when learning about others and how they may do something different to you. We also had online training that was on going with core subjects and we could use this to choose topics that most interested ourselves.

I am still undecided which sector to go into therefore Eaton could still be an option but probably not in respect to location.
The Culture
Yes! I lived with 3 other placement students therefore I wasn't alone. As it was two boys and two girls in the house it was diverse and we had such a great laugh outside of work especially because we worked in separate departments so there was never work conflict.
So, Loughborough is not the best location for high street although because it was in between Leicester and Nottingham so cost depended on what we were doing which was nice. Compared to other students from university that lived in a wealthy area so we controlled the cost.
Unless we went to Leicester or Nottingham we didn't really go 'out out' only to bars and pubs. Although Loughborough university had events on they tend to be in the week when we had to get up for work the next day.
This really depends on what is meant be 'activities'. So the gym was a big option for us and town markets but other than that no that I was aware of.
