The Role
I enjoyed this placement as I got a range of experiences from testing, to projects to answering technical enquires from customers.
With working on the electric vehicle projects I felt part of the team, my manager had even said that without me this year he wouldn't of met customer deadlines
With monthly meetings with both my manager and supervisor I could feedback what I wanted from the placement and receive feedback my self so I knew how well I was doing and where to improve
Most days I was very busy, moving through out the year my work load doubled which was nice to see that my manager knew I could handle it
I had more responsibility than I thought I would, I would have to complete vital tests which and record results which would need to be saved for reference for requalification tests over the next couple of years
With training on communication, time management, presentation and project management. My soft skills improved through these trainings and thought day to day work. Also my technical skills defiantly improved
The Company
The atmosphere was generally great in the office, everyone was really nice and helpful which was great for any newbie joining
With working on projects, deadlines and work would come and go very quickly so it was very much of prioritising work on the day, which from using the skills I learnt from the time management training and help from my manager, we were able to meet deadlines and complete work.
The training we got was very helpful and defiantly the vital skills we needed for the year in industry, without it I would've struggled this year.
Company Parties/Events
With a large corporation, there not only different products to work with but also different departments so you are open to a range of choices for future employment. I was offered a job with hopefully the chance to complete a master part time but I am also interested in he graduate scheme thy offer
The Culture
There were 6 interns on my site so it was nice to have them, also meeting the other interns in the UK from other sites on the training days were nice because by the end we were all close friends
I lived in Loughborough which is a university town, so student accommodation was available to us which helped lower living costs and with it being a town socialising didn't cost too mch
Again with living in a uni town the opportunity to go out was there
I didn't look much into the opportunities to get involved with activities outside work
