    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It has been such a great experience, the team at Leeds has been amazing, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] has been an excellent buddy: so helpful and clear in her explanations and I have felt as if I were a member of the team. I've had the opportunity to attend really interesting meetings and I am so grateful for everyone's time and inclusion.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was introduced to the whole office, given a laptop and email so I felt like a member of the team. The whole office would ask if I wanted to drink every time they got one. I am also attending the CSR volunteering event tomorrow. On my first day I went for lunch with [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] - it was lovely to get to know them better. I was also able to shadow [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] at a board meeting and her calls which was such an amazing opportunity to gain an insight into her role.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Assurance has a lot of abbreviations which I did not understand so I made sure to ask what they were, everyone was very helpful and patient when answering my questions despite how busy they were. It was really helpful to have calls throughout the week where I could ask questions and advice to inspirational women.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have realised the importance of networking and that I would like a job that incorporates travel and relationship-building. This will help me with applying for jobs in the future. This experience has given me an understanding of the assurance service line and where I could fit in. I also know more about what it is like to work for EY and as a result I believe that EY is an organisation I would love to work for as it has a fun working environment and offers are variety of opportunities and support.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The pack never arrived which was a shame but my buddy printed off the learning journal and this was really helpful – to track my progress and have goals to aim for. The induction at the start was really helpful but was quite long. Communication throughout was excellent and very informative.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The work environment was really fun – I had a great time getting to know the team and I particularly enjoyed attending a family meeting where I could get to know the team in a less formal setting. Everyone was really friendly and the hot desk system is great for getting to know everyone.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a meeting at the beginning and end of the week which was great to keep track of my progress and find out more about the team I was working with. The team really made an effort to involve me and ensure I got the most out of the experience.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It gave me an excellent insight into working for EY. I attended the CSR volunteering day, a family meeting and generally worked and chatted amongst the team so I could get a feel for the working environment. I think I would fit in and that EY offers a multitude of opportunities and support.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The family meeting, CSR event and having the opportunity to hot desk and work amongst the office was an excellent opportunity to experience the company culture. The induction session was also great for me to learn more about EY's values and vision. Additionally I learnt all about opportunities and support for example returning to work after having children and the New Horizons programme.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very useful. It showed me exactly what it would be like and it has helped me decide that I would love to work for EY but I would like to experience consulting to compare the two service lines.
