About You
The insight was extremely enjoyable, everyone was helpful and welcoming. EY has a super collaborative environment so there was constant interactions between people from different work streams and every one was happy to help if there was anything I didn't understand and offered support at any opportunity. The team was more than happy to answer any questions I had about their experience at EY and their career. Overall, there is a very interactive and inclusive culture that exists at EY which was echoed in every interaction I had.
I not only attended meetings and interacted with clients during my insight but I was set work which was relevant to the work stream I was placed on. My buddy made me feel like my work was valued and that what I was doing was of value to her and the team. They offered feedback after every task I completed which was extremely useful in developing my skills which I could incorporate into the following task.
I was assigned a buddy at the beginning of the week which I shadowed throughout the program. She was my direct point of call and was always available to assign me to tasks and provide support. I was also assigned a mentor who I met with individually twice during my week and interacted with throughout the week. She was hugely insightful in provided insight from a Director prospective and provided helpful tips for my career development.
I learn the importance of client interaction and engagement throughout my week which enabled me to further understand the role responsibilities and day to day activities of a consultant. Across the week, there were several social events where I was able to develop my networking skills which will be useful to me in my future career path.
The Company
The program was extremely well structured. We were provided with our own laptops and email addresses at EY which was used to facilitate appointment invitations. Our calender for the week was evenly distributed between work tasks, meetings and career development calls. There was never a time where I had no work to complete or no support from the company.
The atmosphere was great. Everyone was very friendly and approachable. They made me feel welcome and able to ask questions whenever I felt appropriate. This was the best part about the week- I constantly felt valued and supported.
The firm invested of huge amount of time and resources during the program. My mentor insured she took time out of her busy day to meet and check in with me. I felt I was able to clarity about my future career path by the tasks I was set and the interactions I had.
I spent the majority of my week at the client location so I was fully immersed into the day to day activities of a consultant. By shadowing a senior mentor I was able to gain an insight about her job role and responsibilities. I also interacted with those on the graduate program which was useful for me to understand the responsibilities and expectations of those in the early stages of their career.
From being in the client office, I was able to gauge how collaborative EY is. People were constantly working together and offering support to each other where appropriate.
The content of my work was reflective of real life scenarios I would face as a consultant at EY. I was able to ask questions to those around me about how they got into consultancy and how they knew it was the right career path for them which was extremely helpful for me.
Everything Else
We were made for the entirety of the week. I was contracted to work 30 hours a week.
I was constantly surrounded by employees of EY and met with a huge array of people from the firm ranging from those on the graduate program to senior directors.
I went out for lunch with my buddy and another employee which was extremely enjoyable. I also attended their summer social event where we went to a bar and for dinner. I was able to social and network in both a professional and relaxed atmosphere.
Yes- I learn a lot apart the employees I worked with. Everyone was open about their personal lives and I feel I really got to know everyone on a personal level.
I would definitely recommend this program to a friend. It was extremely useful in providing an insight into consultancy and the direction of your career. It was a great opportunity to meet with industry experts and network with a huge array of people from the firm.
