The Role
At first I was aprehensive as to the type of work I would be doing and the type of people I would be working with but from the moment my internship started with PwC, I was completely welcomed to the firm, made to feel like I was equally as important as any other member of staff and treated with great respect.
My colleagues were so friendly and always made an effort with me, making sure they always asked if I needed any help. They were never patronising if I did npt understand something and I felt that by the end of my internship I had a built a good relationship with most of them!
My manager always made sure she explained a task fully before I started, detailing any background knowledge that may be useful. She always made herself available if I had any questions but left me free to get on with the work myself which I really enjoyed.
I feel I had the right balance of work throughout as I was always working on different tasks and never felt too stressed with my workload. I worked with 5 different clients over my internship and was even allowed to carry out some research for my department to find useful information to keep them up to date with the current Eurozone crisis.
For my level I feel I was given the correct amount of responsibility. I was able to get on with my tasks without someone watching over my shoulder, giving me trust to work freely. I enjoyed not being given too much responsibility as at my level this would have made me feel uneasy.
I feel my eyes were opened during my internship and realised that work is not as daunting as you would first think. I learned valuable time management skills, my computer skills were developed and especially my people skills, learning the correct way to ask questions which is really benefitting me know as I'm having to speak to various lecturers every day regarding my dissertation.
The Company
As my office was open plan you would expect it to be really noisy however, the noise was at a level where it never interrupted your work yet people walked about the office freely chatting to one another also. Each day I sat at a new desk, whoever was sitting next to me always made an effort to talk to me and get to know me and I really enjoyed this aspect of PwC.
My work was laid out from the beginning where I would be working with a few days spare in between for me to specify things I would like to do, therefore giving me a really well balanced internship.
There was not a day throughout my internship I did not learn something new. The company made sure a lot of time was spent looking after me and training me in any way they could.

The Culture
During my internship I attended at least one social event per week so got to know so many people on a social level also.
My placement was in my hometown so this never really affected me.
As before, this is my hometown and I really enjoy the nightlife within Glasgow.
Apart from social events there were numerous sporting events each week and different activities for staff to get to know one another.
