The Role
I have really enjoyed my underrgaduate year placement at IBM. My day to day job was never repetitive or the same and I took part in projects that interest me the most. I was able to gain many new skills and improve by a large scale my already acquired ones, while applying them to extremely interesting projects.
I was valued as a colleague and an IBM Employee. I was never treated as just an intern and I was given a lot of responsibility.
From day 1, I was given constant support and guidance, with everyone being more than happy to help at any point of my placement.
I was given a lot of problems and challenges to solve in my team, and took initiative to work on different projects. While I was busy during the day, I had time for personal development and training.
I was never treated as just an intern, I was given similar responsibilities to other employees, including presenting in large audiences and working with clients
The skills and training received during my placement is the biggest and most important outcome. I am now feeling much more confident in my abilities to work in an office environment and I am able to utilise all my skills in real life situations.
The Company
There was always a happy atmosphere in the office, which helped the team during busy and stressful times.
The placement was very organised, as I was informed of everything from the first day. I knew the structure of all my 12 months which helped me organise my time better and have more productive placement.
From online portals to workshops, I have participated in many hours of training that gave me skills that will help me throughout my career.
