The Role
The internship at PwC exceeded all expectations and provided the best possible insight into a career in the accounting profession.
Everyone at PwC makes you feel like a valued member of the team. Just because you are an intern by no means that you will be treated any differently.
PwC provide interns with a buddy/mentor that sits close by and helps with any problems. Interns are also assigned a Personal Manager (in the same manner as all other employees) who helps provide senior support for development.
At times the work level was intense but manageable, this teaches valuable skills in time management and prioritising work. There were a few quite periods but that was in line with the time of the year.
To say as an intern that you will be running the show would be a bit much, however I was given reasonable amounts of responsibility for my experience. During my internship I was even presented with the opportunity to help organise a client entertainment event.
The skills that I learned on my internship will be with me for years to come. The whole experience taught valuable lessons in accounting, team work, personal development, communication and most importantly taught me that a career in accountancy in right for me.
The Company
The atmosphere was profession but upbeat.
Very well organised, included group presentations with other interns.
PwC sent all interns to London for a training/induction week, providing an excellent opportunity to meet other interns and collegues.
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Fortunately managed to get a job on completion of university.
The Culture
Very friendly atmosphere with other interns. Became good friends and maintain contact with them.
My collegues were often far to generous and wouldn't allow you to open you wallet. Looking forward to returning the gesture when I return to the firm.
Lots of opportunities in sport, I got involved with 5-a-sides and the football team. I know the firm also runs a pantomine and community schemes.
