The Role
It's a very enjoyable position with a lot of freedom regarding decisions in your project
My colleagues were quite supportive at work and after. They were also helpful in solving some issues I had with my project
My manager was very supportive and encouraged my ideas for the project I was working on.
It's generally pretty relaxed with little hard deadlines. Since the position is more about initiative, work was well balanced overall
The project I was working on is one I proposed and made from scratch, with regular reviews, but most implementation decisions were left up to me
I learned a lot of useful skills relevant to my subject and degree
The Company
I got along really well with my office mate so there was very little time to be bored
There was a bit of confusion at the start of my internship, since the department had got a new manager, therefore the projects to work on weren't that clear
Interns got the same training as permanent employees, and the same access to seminars and library
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
International Travel
Financial Bonus
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
The company in general and the work enviroinment is great, but it's not involved in the subjects I have personal preference in
The Culture
we have common lunch and a chat group, we also had regular card games and social events
Cambridge is quite expensive to live in compared to other places I've been
I'm personally not into nightlife, so I can't say much about the subject. I did go to a few pub nights though.
there were regular sport activities like badmington, climbing and football, as well as pub nights on friday
