The Role
I had a lot of fun, learnt a lot and was given a lot of responsibility. At the same time everybody was very willing to help me so I always worked with confidence. I am now planning a career with PwC.
My colleagues were fantastic. They supported me greatly and were easy to talk to. I was fully aware that I was initially more of a burden to them than a help, but this did not seem to bother them. They are a group of people I would very much like to work with full time.
I was allowed to get on with my own tasks but they were always around if I needed additional help. Considering my lack of knowledge of this industry initially they were very patient with me.
I was very busy but I enjoyed that. I always had something to do and was learning all the time.
I was given a surprising amount of responsibility, more than I had expected. At the same time however there were always people around to help if I needed it. I certainly felt challenged.
I learned many things, from everyday computer skills to more in depth accounting techniques. My degree is not specifically related to accountancy but the everyday skills, communication skills and work ethic will always be useful. I am also hoping to have a career in this field and therefore everything else I learned will also come in very handy.
The Company
It was good. It was much more relaxed than I had anticipated but still very much had the atmosphere of a place where things got done. It was a nice mixture.
It was excellent. PwC are a huge company and they run a lot of internships. Everything worked brilliantly despite the huge logistics involved with so many people in so many different offices. I was very impressed.
They invested a lot. We had a full week of training within a six week internship in two different locations. They made sure we knew enough to start working.

Very appealing and I was offered a job. So long as my final year of university goes well I will be starting with the firm full time next September.
The Culture
It was good but unfortunately in my group of interns many commuted from quite far away so we did not meet up so often. This would be very different if you were working with the office full time.
I was based in Edinburgh. It is not the cheapest city in the world but could also be a lot worse.
I am not really a huge night life kind of person but Edinburgh is a capital city and there is a lot going on.
There are a lot of non-work things to do in Edinburgh both within the firm and outside it. There is definitely something for everybody.
