The Role
During the duration of my internship with Enterprise Rent-A-Car as a Management Trainee, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far. After 10 months already, I have had the benefit of working in a positive and fast paced environment which are all great contributors for personal progression within the company. The colleagues that I have worked with on a daily basis, I cannot fault. They are your team and teamwork is central to this job! In addition to these points, I would say in confidence that Enterprise Rent-A-Car's training scheme is very highly regarded and the regular training days are a great way of sharing with colleagues what you have achieved since the prior ones, and also learning even more.
Prior to starting to work in my allocated branch (Altrincham) in August last year, I was pleasantly greeted by the branch and assistant managers via phone call prior to my start date. This made me feel very welcome before the first day and they answered any questions that I had about the job and what was to come along with the placement in the next 12 months. This made me a lot less nervous to start on my first day! Overall, I can not fault any of my colleagues I have worked with in my branch this year. They become your friends out of work too. Working at Enterprise requires a lot of teamwork and so you have to value each colleague just like you would your family!
Right from the first 'welcome phone call' I received from the management prior to my start date, I felt a lot more confident walking in on the first day. This is because they had answered all of the questions and worries that I may have had and this made me feel a lot more comfortable. As you can imagine starting a new job there are a lot of questions to be asked and I can not fault the management at all as they are always happy to answer any questions and help with your personal progression on a daily basis, even now 10 months on.
Working at Enterprise is no doubt a fast paced environment, but this is a positive thing! I find myself that it is better to be kept active and feel like you are always doing something rather than sitting and looking for jobs to do in the office. At Enterprise, no day is ever the same. One day you may find yourself office based for most of the day, working on admin and serving customer's and another day it may be that you end up feeling like you're on the road driving a lot of the time, delivering cars, doing customer pick up's or drop off's.
Being given responsibility and control over situations is one of my favourite things about working at Enterprise. For example, if you would like to go above and beyond for a customer to make them happy, you can do this yourself as you have your own autonomy. Making customers completely satisfied is what we want to achieve, so do what you have to do to make them this way!
All in all, the skills I have developed and the training I have received, will all assist me in my studies and beyond. I have learned skills for life this year working at Enterprise and I will use these skills on a day to day basis, especially next year when I go back to University. The training has been fantastic, and because every single employee in the company all starts as a Management Trainee, even the highest of management has been in your shoes before as a new employee and so they are willing to help you and give you the best possible advice to succeed.
