About You
I enjoyed the placement very much. Savills provided a great week of activities and talks for us and we were actively encouraged to ask questions and were given detailed answers to the questions we did ask. The London office is impressive and the Savills employees were all highly professional and receptive.
I felt valued. Many companies make it seem as if they are doing you a huge favour by merely alowing you to enter the building. Savills is different. They made everyone me feel as if they would like to have me on the team and framed talks in the value mutual value that we can bring to each other. That went a long way.
The guidance and support offered on the insight was fantastic. No stone was left unturned and by the end of the week I had a good idea of what the company does and where I could fit in. My mentor answered every question I had and if he did not have the answer he sought out someone who did.
The skills developed will assist me greatly in my degree. When study I like to know why I am studying said thing. The fact that I saw what I was studying put to use in the real world will help me as I go through my second and third year.
The Company
The insight week was structured well. We received a timetable that told us exactly where we had to be at all times of the day as well as having several relevant talks throughout the week that explained what Savills does. The talks from the professionals in the field were particularly interesting.
The atmosphere was professional. Everybody understood their role and their purpose of being in the office which was to get the work done and get it done properly. This does not mean that the people did not enjoy themselves. There were several interesting people who made working enjoyable on the insight.
They invested a good amount. Seeing as it was only one week there are clear limits on how much can be invested but what they did invest was their time. I was able to have one to one contact with many professionals who were happy to help guide me through my questions.
It helped me greatly. I was in an open plan office that housed multiple departments so I was able to see what other teams were doing and how they worked. Furthermore, I spoke extensively with others on the insight week and was able to develop a clear understanding of what they were doing.
It helped me greatly. The talks that we had throughout the week as well as visits to the other Savills office helped me to understand the company culture. Savills places a high standard on employing smart, able and well rounded individuals and supporting them as much as they can to become great professionals.
The content was very valuable. We met with many teams throughout the week who explained exactly what they do and gave us a thorough breakdown of how a graduate would fit into the team. Being in the office, observing and asking questions helped me to really get an idea of where I see my career going.
Everything Else
Savills reimbursed all expenses up to £100 which I thought was reasonable.
This was a real strength of the programme. We were introduced to several Savills employees from all levels of seniority ranging from first year graduate to CEO.
They were great. Savills employees would come and socialise with us over food and drinks and we had ample time to talk.
Yes. There are many Savills sports teams such as tennis, golf and rugby.
I would recommend this insight to a friend and to an enemy. It is well worth it.
