About You
I had a wonderful experience on the women’s technology insight programme. I was pleasantly surprised by how much exposure we got to the business. I feel I really benefited from the presentations followed by Q&A of the graduates about their roles and experiences as well as the work shadowing too.
I felt very valued within the company, we were welcomed with open arms by not just the recruitment team and the graduates but the rest of the technology team and we erre openly encouraged to ask questions and find out more about the technology operations. Overall a very supportive network.
We received plenty of guidance. Before arriving I was emailed regularly by the KPMG team and even the week before received a call just to check everything was going well. On arrival we received a guide book with a detailed plan for the three days which was valuable as we always knew what we were getting up to, and felt I could comfortably ask questions at any point.
As someone who struggles with public speaking, I was at first apprehensive about the presentation aspect of the business challenge we were given. However we spent the morning doing a presentation skills workshop so I felt much more confident when it came to the actual presentation. I also have benefitted from practice in networking and group exercise skills.
The Company
Very well structured, as previously mentioned we were given an itinarary which we stuck very well to. Day 1 was presentations and introduction to a business challenge, day 2 was finishing the business challenge and work shadowing, then day 3 was the assessed element and Q&A with graduates, amongst all of this we were able to meet lots of people and ask lots of questions.
Wonderful, everyone was so friendly and welcoming, it was not what I initially expected coming in. I feel lucky to have participated in the workshadowing and have gotten a real flavour for life at KPMG. I had numerous opportunities to network and learn about for example all the social networks and societies offered at KPMG such as the women’s network and breathe.
In terms of personal development, I really feel that I have learnt so much about the technology side of the business. Having come in with very little idea about what roles are offered within KPMG and what the roles actually entailed, it was a wonderful opportunity to learn more and discover which areas I’m most interested in.
Very good insight. I met so many people in different areas but the underlying theme was work hard, okay hard. It sounds very varied and fast paced and you have to be organised to succeed, however the benefits more than compensate for this.
There is a huge emphasis on the company’s cultural values and behavioural capabilities and it was nice to seee how they are all genuinely incorporated in the day to day running of the business.
I had no idea what I wanted to do before, but I did have some interest in technology so this was the perfect opportunity to dip my toes in the water and work out if a job in technology is for me, which I have discovered it absolutely is!
Everything Else
I’d absolutely recommend this to anyone with a remote interest in technology, you dont need a technology background, just an interest and a good work ethic so I would recommend this to anyone in that position that wants a taster of life in a technology job role.
