Insight Day Review

I have attended 2 different Insight Days at M&G Investments. Both of these were amazing opportunities to further understand Fund Management and the culture that exists at M&G. The Insight Days were fantastic opportunities to hear keynote speakers and to get involved in a Trade Simulation. Overall, I enjoyed the insight massively.

Overall, the staff at M&G Investments make you feel very welcome from start to finish. With opportunities throughout the day to ask questions, network and find out more about the roles available and the culture. Overall, the employees I met were willing to spend the time with you to make you feel welcomed and valued.

The guidance you receive is amazing. Even though this is just a day opportunity you learn so much about Fund Management. Especially during the trading simulation where they give you so much guidance and support in order to complete the exercise. During the day you couldn't receive any more guidance/support.

I would say during the trading simulation it improves your ability to think on your feet and time management as you have to work quickly in order to make investment decisions. The information received from key speakers was useful in deciding a career journey. Including what stream links better to your skills.

The Insight Day is very structured with a timetable that gives a good balance between the trading simulation, keynote speakers, lunch and networking opportunities. The Insights structure allowed attendees to gain an excellent insight into the organisation and the work conducted by employees in Fund Management. Overall, a well-structured opportunity.

The general atmosphere during the Insight Day was amazing. You are made to feel very welcome and the atmosphere allows you to learn a lot during the Insight Day. The atmosphere between students as well allowed us to complete the trading simulation in a fun way whilst learning and getting invovled in tasks.

Overall, because this is a day's experience it is hard to judge the training and development I received. However, from talking to employees the training and development opportunities for the different programmes sound excellent. Also, you do develop as a person throughout the day with the different activities and the time the company invests in you to further understand M&G and Fund Management.

Throughout the day, because you are talking to Senior as well as Graduates you are able to see the two different sides. From a graduates perspective what the job entails and from a senior level position. You get to further understand the career, development and progression opportunities which exist at M&G.

Throughout the day you gain a good understanding of the company culture through the different networking opportunities. You ain understanding of the work/life balance which exists within the organisation and the different extra activities that you can get invovled in outside of work within M&G. Therefore, a good understanding of M&G's culture was presented.

The content from the keynotes speakers and the recruitment team was very helpful in deciding my future career path. Afterwards, it made me realise that a career in Fund, Investment or Asset Management is the way forward for me. This is because I am interested in the investment decisions that take place behind the scenes.

During the experience, I believe you get reimbursed the travel expenses if you live outside of London. However, as I live inside London this was not necessary for me. However, for others this is something you can possible claim for up to a certain amount of money (I am unsure how much).

Throughout the day there were many different networking and meeting other employees opportunities. Throughout the day's schedule, you have breaks, lunch and networking time in order to meet others and ask further questions about M&G, Fund Management, their career path and more. There could not have been any more opportunities to network presented.

There were networking opportunities presented throughout the day. There was no networking/social event in the evening. However, you get some networking opportunities during the lunch provided. Therefore, the networking you are provided I good for the shortness of the Insight. With the lunch, you are able to walk around and talk to many employees.

I would definitely recommend this Insight Day to anyone who is interested in a career in the financial services industry. Especially if you are interested in working in Fund Management as the day gives you a good insight into a great company. Therefore, I would definitely recommend this opportunity to my friends.
