The Role
Intel is a great company to work for. Everyone is extremely kind and always ready to help. I was made very comfortable in my team from day 1. However, it is extremely dynamic and there is constant change. All the time.
The culture at Intel and particularly in BMG (Business Management Group) is like that of a family. Everyone is always willing to lend a helping hand and will make time for you whenever required.
Having an On the Job coach is a great value add. Due to the constant change I have had 3 managers in my 12 months at Intel and having an OTJC has helped me to settle in well despite the change.
My job role in Particular requires constant customer interaction and a lot of the times I (and everyone else in the team) felt we were maxed out. As the team is new and wasn't very structured in the beginning, we were extremely understaffed.
I felt like I had enough responsibility and accountability. Wasn't ever treated as an 'intern' and am always treated like any other member of the team.
Constant customer interaction has helped with my people skills. Overall I have developed as an individual, that being said I am not sure as to how much will be useful for my degree.
The Company
Great atmosphere, everyone is very kind and always up for a chat
for my role in particular, it was not well organised at all. Due to organisational changes, we were 6 interns who ended up doing a different job to the one we were hired for. This was very demoralising. The lack of structure in the new role meant that we were often overworked.
There have been several mandatory/optional training courses throughout the year!
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
There are several opportunities to get hired back at Intel. They often hire interns back as graduates after University.
The Culture
As there are around 45 other placement students at Intel, the social scene has been extremely good and definitely one of the biggest perks of working at Intel.
Swindon is not very expensive to live in. The average rent would be aropund £400/month
Swindon is not the greatest place for a night out. There are only a handful pubs we would go out to.
The Intel sports and social club is very active and there are many opportunities to get involved in recreational/competitive activities
