The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. it was a huge development opportunity and I learnt so much about myself, and how a corporate environment works.
My team were very supportive and trusted me with taking on jobs and projects. they were always supportive and gave me work that I could see would add value to an overall brief.
My manager/ team were always on hand to answer any questions that i had. they would give me challenging jobs, to help push me, but would not leave me in the dark and where there with me along the way.
I was always busy, and always had something to do. Some days were more busy than others, but if i was ever at a lose end, my manager would bring me in on a project/ task.
I was given a lot of responsibility. this continued to increase throughout my time at GSK and within my team, as they started to trust my capabilities.
I have developed hugely over my time. My confidence has tripled, as well as my understanding of how to cooperate and work alongside a team in such an environment. Balancing my workload and prioritization is something that i have improved on and i will take this with me to university. organisation and time management also will assist me during my studies.
The Company
My team was very friendly and transparent. whenever you needed to ask a question or speak to a fellow colleague, they were always open to chat. we organised social events and the atmosphere was great.
the handover to myself was pretty easy. GSK has an induction process for IPs which is a flow chart, and tells you each step. having a handover from the previous placement student also helps.
During the 12 months, they try to get the most out of you and push to develop you. To be taken on further, you have to apply to their graduate programme- its very tough to get into though.
Flexi Time
Above 25 days holiday
Very appealing. i have applied for their grad scheme.
The Culture
yes. there is an IP scheme where GSK organises events for fellow placement students to get together and socialise.
i lived at home. socializing was reasonable price and very easy to do.
they're were nice pubs. not many bars or clubs.
