About You
The Recruitment team and general members of the office were very receptive and friendly to the interns and went out of their way to make sure that we had interesting work to do and feedback on any tasks we performed for them.
I was give interesting work and helpful feedback throughout the scheme. The firm members also emphasised the importance of organic development within the office which obviously extends to interns as potential trainees.
Plenty of helpful feedback on tasks performed and material given on previous firm cases to give an idea of the work which is undertaken. The training contract and graduate development was set out in detail.
The scheme gave a good idea of the practical application of the law, in particular, I was able to see how the lawyers dealt with basic contract concepts which form an important part of a law degree.
The Company
Very well structured, useful events were dispersed within department work
Excellent, could not have asked for a better atmosphere.
A considerable amount of time and effort was put in to explaining important aspects of building a legal career. We were treated to workshops on aspects such as personal branding and networking and department supervisors spent time taking through aspects of a trainee's potential role.
Staff of all levels were happy to talk candidly about their experiences at the firm which gave an important insight in to life at the firm in various different capacities.
The insight helped in forming a comprehensive understanding of the culture within the Bristol office. However, less was said of the London office which seemed to have a slightly different atmosphere from what could be gleaned, which is important given the close relationship between the two teams.
It was as useful as a one week scheme could possibly be. I was given a comprehensive outline of life within the department in which I sat and within the firm generally. However, it was difficult to gain a perspective of exactly how different other departments and firms may be to the one in which I sat.
Everything Else
Yes, ample opportunities were set up by the graduate team and staff were always happy to greet and talk with interns.
Excellent, they were relaxed enough that there was a pleasant social atmosphere but also very useful in getting to know the firm.
Yes, either from the recruitment team or directly from a supervisor/buddy or other member of staff.
Definitely. There was a good mix of interesting work and helpful networking.
