The Role
A lot of the work was both technically difficult and challenging to understand. Having said that, the hardest jobs were the most rewarding - an easy seven months would have been extremely boring.
Extremely, especially when the graduates were studying for exams and there were few other people in the office of my level.
Very much so; any colleague could be turned to for advice and the mentoring system worked extremely well.
I would usually work from 9am until 6pm, although there were a few late nights.
Most of the work was completely up to you. However, it was always reassuring to know that it would be reviewed before ever being sent to the client. In this way you were trusted with important work, while also receiving feedback on everything you did.
Not a great amount, although this is my fault entirely as my degree subject has little to do with the work I did at Deloitte.
The Company
Surprisingly good natured, it wasn't at all what I had expected from an accountancy firm!
Once again, it was surprising how much time and effort was put in to training someone who was only going to be working at the company for seven months. We had two full weeks of training throughout the placement, along with several day sessions.
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Both for the experience and money.
The Culture
Amazing. There were 30 of us on the national scheme and we managed to organise two weekends away with as many of us as possible, completely outside of anything that Deloitte were arranging.
Perfectly manageable on my salary.
