The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed the placement. It was challenging but extremely rewarding.
You are given huge amounts of responsibility from the first day. Input is valued and the project work that you are set actually impacts the business. I have made lifelong friends from this placement.
You are assigned to a personal Area Manager mentor who provides a consistent voice of feedback and guidance throughout the placement.
Extremely busy, there was never a time in which I felt as though I had no work on my placement.
You are given huge responsibility from day one. Your are given the keys to the stores and the opportunity to run your own multi million pound business.
Skills developed with have a large positive impact on my University Studies as well as my employ ability.
The Company
You spend half the time in store and half the time rotating around different departments within head office. Therefore you are always on your toes and learning new skills. The store is efficient and fast paced and the office is very professional and focused.
There is a structured training plan that you are given on your first day. This is followed for the whole 12 month.s There is also a 7 week grading period which is similar to the graduate scheme and allows you to demonstrate the skills you have learnt on the placement.
They invest a lot of time and resources in you as you are seen as future Area Managers. This makes you feel extremely valued as a placement student which is rare in other firms.
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Above 25 days holiday
The graduate scheme is one of the most attractive in the job market. I would very much like to come back and you are aware that this is a possibility if you perform well on the placement.
The Culture
The placement students interact more once you are all located together in head office rather than split between stores.
Very Low, the RDC is in Neston which is 20 minutes from student areas in Liverpool.
Around my place of work the nightlife is no existent, however it is very close to Liverpool which has the best night life in the country.
There is good opportunities to participate in charity and sport based events outside of work.
