About You
I found this insight programme to be really enjoyable and each day provided different opportunities and insights into the different sectors within the bank. The week started with some icebreaker tasks in order to get to know the other interns, as well as welcome drinks on the first evening. Throughout the week the HR team were really friendly and made you feel welcome to ensure you were having an enjoyable time at Nomura.
I felt valued throughout my time at Numora. We received a really warm welcome by the recruitment team when we arrived at the offices and all the employees we met were friendly and seemed to be genuinely interested in us. The graduates took time out of their day to speak to us and we had a really good Q&A session with Nomura employees.
Support and guidance was offered throughout the time at Nomura. Representatives from HR supervised us at all times and we could ask them any questions we had. During the employability skills sessions, we received guidance on our CVs. We also had mock interviews and we were given pointers for improvement etc. I found this guidance really useful.
The skills developed will certainly benefit me in the future. After participating in the case study analysis, I feel the skills developed by working in a team will help me appreciate more the benefits that collaborative work could bring to my studies. The interactive skills presentation helped me appreciate the importance of particular structures when presenting work or any formal documents and the impression it leaves with people.
The Company
The programme was structured well with compulsory talks to attend but also lots of free time to spend within your assigned team or to shadow people in other parts of the business. Everyone was very friendly and willing to answer questions, and were all very willing to chat for half an hour about the work that they did.
Throughout the insight, the atmosphere was very friendly and I felt that everyone was extremely approachable. There was also a very professional atmosphere throughout the insight. I also enjoyed the location of Nomura as it was in central London, the view was incredible and I was very impressed by the professional and 'smooth running' atmosphere at Nomura.
I felt well invested in by Nomura over the course of the insight programme. Although the programme was only short, we had so many useful sessions aimed at our personal development. Over the course of the day we had sessions which included presentation skills and interview preparation, which I found to be particularly beneficial.
Very much so! The various opportunities throughout the day to network with current employees or listen to them speak about their personal experiences within the company, from a range of different areas, provided an honest insight into the opportunities for career progression and mobility and offered an invaluable insight into how best we as students could further our opportunities and increase the chance of being hired at an organisation such as Nomura.
Work shadowing provided a great opportunity to understand the culture. As well as this, just spending time in the office further allowed us to really understand the atmosphere and culture that was in the building and what the company is like to work for. Additionally networking events and work shadowing further allowed us to understand the culture of the company.
The content was very useful for helping to determine a future career path. I gained a better understanding of how an investment bank operates and more about the different departments that make up the bank. I liked that the sessions and information was tailored to our level and was easy to understand. The insight has solidified my intention to pursue a career in investment banking.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed all of my travel expenses very quickly.
In my opinion this was the best aspect of the the insight program, there were various situations such as the Q & A panels, networking lunches and group tasks. I gained insight and many gave very valuable advice about careers in the industry. I have followed up on these connections by using LinkedIn.
I found all of the networking and social events to be really enjoyable.
Yes, I found out about lots of different opportunities for Numora employees.
Yes! I would absolutely recommend this insight to a friend!
