The Role
Great people to work with and job flexibility to explore areas of personal interest.
Mixture of tasks undertaken however second half of my placement I was working on projects that I could tell carried real value.
Sat next to my manager every day of my placement which made for constant feedback and support.
Varied however varied depending on personal ability. If you wanted more work then they were more then happy for you to ask for/find more.
I was given some projects that were self led or led by myself and other people on internships and it was our job to push these projects through to completion.
Useful skills acquired which will be benefitial further down the line in my career but do not necessarily link directly to my degree.
The Company
The people are Virgin Media are great to work with. There is exposure to people of all different backgrounds and levels within the business which helps mould you into a more rounded person.
Amazing support set up for interns from the moment you start your internship and throughout the year. Monthly opportunities for interns from across the scheme/UK to come together for training days and networking events.
Massive scope for personal development. Monthly workshops specifically for interns to develop career skills for both during the placement and beyond. Virgin Media offers an array of training through online resources and any workshops you wish to attend.
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
The company offers and amazing two year graduate scheme which see's most of, if not all, landing positions in the business within that two year period.
The Culture
The majority of the placement students were all based in a similar proximaty and socials were arranged on a weekly basis. Bigger socials were also organised, on a less regular basis, allowing all placement students from across the UK to come together.
Cost of living was average due to location and socialising costs were fairly standard.
Working in a big city meant the nightlife catered for everyone should you fancy that sort of thing.
Fairly standard area so I'm sure if you looked hard enough or had a particular interest that you could find additional activities.
