About You
Thoroughly enjoyable experience. It was very well planned out and the lunch private lunch with our mentor was a nice touch. It was a pleasant learning experience that allowed us to learn practical skills in a project without the stress of possibly messing up.
Very valued and trusted. I thought there was a lot of respect when they trusted us with the social media accounts and gave us real marketing campaign projects. It felt like we were contributing something to a real end.
Plenty of support and guidance. Each session was allocated enough time for us to come up with ideas and any questions were answered promptly by those who were supervising us. Feedback after each session was also given with great attention to detail.
All of the skills that I learnt on the day have been a major boost to my self-confidence and I feel I am more likely to put myself out there now that I am more familiar with the workplace setting. The skills and their relevancy to any potential job opportunity makes me more comfortable about speaking about it in an interview.
The Company
None of the tasks that we were assigned went over the allocated time period. There was ample time for each task to complete it to a satisfying degree.
Everyone was very friendly and they even made coffee and tea for us when we requested it. Just a general feeling of comfort and being at ease.
I think they invested a little bit in us. There wasn't any hardcore training that we received but more of a cursory introduction of what one could expect when working in a small company. Lunch was great though.
It got me thinking about all the different divisions and specialties that were available. The staff also talked about their personal journeys which gave a better understand of what the career pathway looks like.
They had their company values postered on to the walls surrounding where they work.
It helped me to see what possible opportunities are open to me as a first year undergraduate.
Everything Else
I have not yet been reimbursed but I am expecting to be reimbursed in pretty soon for my travel expenditure.
There was lunch which I would consider to be a minimal form of networking
Not really. Although this is inapplicable to me.
Yes. During the casual chat that we had over lunch, there was much discussion about work-play balance. It showed that there were options for balance.
Yes, definitely.
