The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Savills. The summer scheme experience is extremely valuable and I have has a good insight to what life as a rural graduate would be like. I would highly recommend it to any prospective graduates looking to work for Savills.
I understand a month is a very short period of time to know your colleagues. I have been working with different departments and everyone had made me feel very welcome. During my time I have felt very confident to ask for help and everyone has been very accommodating.
My line manager has been extremely helpful throughout my time. Everyday we have reviewed my daily tasks and long-term projects and ensured workload is appropriate. I have been able to ask my line manager lots of questions regarding daily work tasks and what life is like as a Savills employee.
I have been very busy everyday. Throughout my time I have always been given tasks by different colleagues which included out of office site visits. I have never had a 'twiddle your thumbs moment' during my summer scheme placement.
Majority of the time I have been shadowing colleagues on site visits and completing work tasks which are then reviewed before being posted etc. I was given responsibility to work alone on the Crewe estate for two afternoons during my last week, this included a house viewing and septic tank audit.
The skills I have gained have improved my communication skills. I have developed time management and responsibility. The summer scheme has also taught me to have confidence in the professional working world.
The Company
I was enrolled onto the summer scheme at a time two employees were made redundant, the office atmosphere was a little quiet. However it was good understanding for myself of the cycle business' go through. During my whole time the office was very respectful of position and the atmosphere I had entered into, and most of the time it was a lovely environment to work in.
The summer scheme organisation is very organised and well set up. Always received punctual responses and availability to contact anyone from recruitment was 10/10.
I wasn't given any personal training during my time at Savills. Due to past work experience I was aware of certain programme such as outlook and pear technology.
Working from home
It is extremely appealing the graduate programme with all the opportunities of location and roles provided.
The Culture
I wasn't in contact with any of the regional placement students.
Cost was fine. It is a local town to me so use to the costs of petrol / food etc.
I don't live in the area I work so unaware of the quality of nightlife.
Yes I am part of the rugby club.
