About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight, I got a real look into what life at EY is like, and the sort of work/projects that are undertaken. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and we were given a 'buddy' for the week who checked in with us each day and answered any questions we had.
I felt very valued, as part of the internship we got to meet and shadow a range of staff from Graduates to Partners who all made time for us and made us feel included. We were asked for feedback throughout and if we felt anything needed to be improved or if there was any particular department we wanted to learn more about,so it felt as though they did value us.
We were given a buddy for the whole week, who checked in with us each day and offered us any support we needed. All the leading women we shadowed were supportive and gave us a lot of advice, based on what were considering post university. Everyone was friendly and approachable.
We were able to take part in a mini project, and deliver presentations based on this. We learnt some key skills such as working under a time pressured environment. From sitting in on meetings and calls we also picked up new business terms, as well as different software used which could be valuable for the final year of a degree.
The Company
It was well structured, we had a fairly packed timetable so there was rarely a moment that we were sitting around with nothing to do. We shadowed a range of people from graduates to partners so were able to see a range of different types of projects and learned a variety of things within Data and Analytics.
The atmosphere was very positive and relaxed. From the moment we first arrived people made an effort to introduce themselves and get to know us. The general atmosphere was very positive and enthusiastic. The atmosphere made us feel relaxed and more comfortable to approach people and ask any questions we had.
To a large extent, but it would have been nicer to have got more stuck in to some projects
It helped a large amount, from speaking to a range of people within the firm we were able to gauge what it would be like. However we mainly met with people from one sub department of one service line and a full time role within a different department might be different.
Very much, after only a few days it was clear what sort of culture and atmosphere there is at EY.
I would say it was very valuable in deciding upon whether the service line we interned in was right for us or not. We were given a careers coaching call and able to ask a number of questions to senior staff in helping to decide upon the right future career path for us.
Everything Else
Yes, networking was largely encouraged and facilitated.
Very good, there were less social event opportunities and we were limited by time as the internship only lasted 5 days.
Yes, we found out about the many networks and opportunities at EY
Definitely, a valuable and insightful experience into EY and financial services.
