The Role
Provided a great insight in to working at one of the big four.
Due to the nature of audit there's not a particularly strong team bond although all the people I knew were friendly and welcoming. Social events were plentiful as well.
A bit of a mixed bag here, generally people are very happy to help but you're also expected to use your initiative, which to me seemed entirely reasonable, but to some it may feel a bit pressured.
Varied massively day to day, they didn't expect me to work particularly long hours although some of my colleagues did.
This seemed to depend on who is running the team you are in. Some in-charges would set me a big broad reaching task and expect me to work towards completing it, others set lots of small tasks that they know you can do, more ticking boxes type of work.
It was worthwhile doing and the experience around balance sheets and company reports was particularly useful for me.
The Company
The socials were great but other times employees work hard so fun and games were limited during working hours. Generally an enjoyable place to work.
Didn't seem like there was that much organisation although people on other internships said it was worse.
I didn't feel that there was very much personal investment
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
They told me they want me as a graduate, as they did for most interns.
The Culture
Most people seemed to be up for having a good time socially.
London.
Gordon's wine bar.
I seemed to strike lucky having the two major socials of the year in the six weeks I was there.
