The Role
A lot - very dynamic and well structured. Learned a lot from other interns, my team and from all the trainings we were given.
They were all very aware of me and very helpful, willing to explain anything I needed despite them being very busy.
We set some goals/obejctives at the beginning of each rotation which allowed supervisors to support you throughout the internship.
There was no time when I wasn't doing anything. First week was mostly shadowing to understand people's roles at the desk. After that, I had a lot of tasks to complete.
Interns cannot trade or deal with clients because a certification for that is needed. Therefore I tried to contribute with projects (i.e. excel), morning/midday commentaries etc.
It helped me a lot to understand and apply all the theoretical knowledge that I learned at university.
The Company
Great. The desk got along very well (sales and traders) and in general al desks had a very good relation with each other.
Very well structured. Trainings, conferences and a trading simulation well carried out throughout the internship/
First week was entirely devoted to training. After that, trainings were carried out once a week.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing. The graduate program allows you to rotate across many desks and provides you with all the trainings required in order to become a certified professional
The Culture
Yes, the trading game encouraged communication with other team mates, although it is true that more networking events within interns could have been organised (especially from other divisions).
Very expensive, London average.
After work is quite common in Canary Wharf, especially during the summer.
I am not very sure, but I think these opportunities are provided to full-time employees.
