The Role
I am enjoying it immensely - the work environment, people I work with and the work itself are all diverse, dynamic and constantly engaging. With 2 rotations over 2.5 months, I get a better understanding of Citi CMO as a whole and feel like I already have a network within the organisation!
I have been entrusted with some high-profile work, ranging across countries and sectors, so I feel very trusted by colleagues. Especially when I perform well, they do not hesitate to give me more and more challenging work and appreciate me for my efforts!
Everyone is just so interactive, spending time to slowly explain things that I may not know and answering my (many) questions
I had a good balance of urgent as well as more long-term, strategic work, therefore I was busy from morning to night on most days
Despite being on each desk for only 4-5 weeks each, I was allowed to create some presentations and reports wenever possible / if an analyst was on leave or unavailable
As I want to stay within the Capital Markets / Investment Banking industry at least for the near future, every skill and piece of knowledge I acquired will be immensely useful for my future career. Further, I am sure the soft skills I developed are transferable to any other kind of job/experience.
The Company
Very friendly, busy and always open - everyone seemed connected not only on a professional level but also a personal one
Great combination of networking, training and actual desk work - everything seems well-organised from the welcome to the day job
Despite being just summer interns, we had networking events where we even met senior management (Global Heads, MDs etc.) one-on-one. In terms of training, we had regular speaker series throughout the internship and a week-long intense training at the beginning
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
As long as you perform well, the Bank will do all it can to hire you. To early to say whether I have a job!
The Culture
Amazing connection with fellow interns, I am sure some of us will remain in contact even after the internship ends
Canary Wharf isn't exactly the cheapest place for socialising but rent was relatively cheap compared to the rest of London
Nightlife includes many bars in the area but can't say that I have explored them all!
There were various networking events and the organisation itself has many associations and off-sites
