Insight Day Review

BDO offered a very relaxed yet professional environment. The receptionist was helpful, the employees working in audit and assurance and tax were very down to earth and relatable. The fact that they enjoyed working at BDO showed and reflected positively towards us candidates. The candidates I experienced the insight day with were also friendly.

Given that the BDO experience was just an insight day, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly how valued I felt during my experience. Nevertheless, several BDO colleagues encouraged actively finding out about a company you could potentially be working for in the future, and praised us 1st years for making the effort to find out more about BDO.

I received plenty of support during my insight day at BDO, as well as valuable guidance on possible paths available to me. The audit and assurance senior manager was extremely helpful in explaining what his day to day activities involve, making me feel more confident about my next steps throughout my career journey.

Throughout the insight day I learned a lot about the world of finance and possible career paths, but I wouldn't say it helped much with my maths degree. However in my 3rd year I wish to study a mathematical finance model and it is recommended to have some background in finance which is what this day delivered excellently.

The insight day at BDO was very well structured - which is the sort of time management I expected from a company of such stature. Activities were well arranged so that throughout the day we engaged our brains but not to the extent to which we became overly drained and tired.

The general atmosphere was very relaxed and easy going. It began immediately when I walked through the doors as the kind receptionist told me exactly where to go and what to do. The insight day itself gave the impression that BDO wanted to show off what they do, so no pressure was on any of us candidates.
