    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Citi is one of the leading firms in the very exciting financial services industry, and so far the experience has been very positive as a whole.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • So far, everyone that I have worked with have been very friendly and helpful and really open to getting to know you. Certain senior bankers in the team have reached out to us interns to get to know us and have also encouraged their staff to check in with us regularly.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • So far, whenever I have run into an issue, the person(s) I have been working for have been willing to help.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It is part of the corporate finance business model that the workload is very unpredictable - at some times, work is really intense, while there's also often downtime e.g. while waiting for comments on your work.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In the beginning, interns typically handle smaller parts of a project to gradually learn the work; however, I have only been with the team for 1,5 weeks when writing this, so I expect to receive more responsibility for every week that passes.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skill-set developed especially in investment banking is very transferable to any job that requires recommending a certain action and backing it up with data; in addition, understanding of finance and business in general is really beneficial in understanding how society and the global economy functions.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Professional, as you would expect of a bank, but still relatively personal between fellow junior colleagues. In larger teams, the steep hierarchy makes the atmosphere a bit stiff at times.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The onboarding process was very structured and guided.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The first week of the 10-week internship was training for the job, with a hired finance training firm educating us in the classroom. In addition, since two-three weeks before the start of the internship, we had access to plenty of online training materials to familiarize ourselves with the skills necessary for the job.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am looking to convert my internship into a full-time offer.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • You make a lot of friends during training week, which sets a good spirit within the intern class for the rest of the summer.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Prices for short-term living in London are absolutely ridiculous, otherwise prices in line with other developed European economies (excluding the Mediterranean countries).

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Canary Wharf has a couple of decent bars that are filled with people in the early evening, but no night clubs to the best of my knowledge.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • In some divisions of the bank, there are probably organized activities, but I am not aware of any.
