The Role
Would definitely recommend Disney for those who wish to develop their personal skills. Disney helped me with my shyness which was my main flaw. Also great opportunities to network around the company and talk with a range of nationalities day to day. Would recommend those who want to increase their network.
My team always made me feel included by inviting me to lunches, and meals to trusting me with more complex tasks which helped me develop my skills. Also everyone in the team was very approachable so you could always talk to someone about anything. CMC was one great big family.
In my team I was allowed a one to one session on a biweekly basis with my manager. I felt this was good as it gave me an opportunity to speak to my manager in private if I wanted more work or if I was struggling with a particular task.
This would depend on where our department was in a quarter. Some days were quiet, and some days were very busy, and this was hard to predict. However, after speaking with my manager or fellow team members they were always able to find me something to do or provide further training.
I was in charge of the management of a legal document. This gave me a vast amount of responsibility as it was my job to draft and get the license to sign, which was very important to other teams when providing sales pitches. Disney gave me a good amount of responsibility.
When I started at Disney I was very shy. Disney helped me become a more confident person which will benefit me greatly in the future. However, I wish I had more opportunity to develop some more academic skills. However, my team did provide workshops to help with this.
The Company
My team literally felt like one big family without trying to be too cheesy. We always supported one another and ensured we all succeeded. No one was left behind. I feel I was able to fit in well with the team and they will make you feel included.
Although the structure within each sub team is good, I feel this could be further improved to ensure all the different teams have a similar format and timer structure to help all departments work together and have one set deadline among all the teams, but this is only minor.
I feel Disney gave me a good amount of responsibility even though they didn’t have to take the risk on us. This has helped me develop my skills, and ensured I have a greater degree of confidence in my own abilities for the rest of my career.

Working for this company has given me a vast amount of contacts which will help me should I apply for a job within the company for a variety of departments and not just the one I worked in. There are many employees at Disney who are returning placement students.
The Culture
Due to the vast amount of interns in the company (aprox. 200) there is a good social scene among interns. Disney sets up a Facebook page which is great when looking for acomadation, and last year all interns worked together to host an intern ball.
Unfortunately, Disney is in London which does mean London prices. However, flat sharing with interns can definitely help this cost and allowed me to have money spare each month for theatre trips, shopping and holidays. Especially as being a Disney employee gets you a good amount of discounts.
There were a lot of bars in Hammersmith that we often went to for work socials. However, a lot of London’s nightlife is more central or in Shoreditch which is about 20-40 minutes away on the tube. However, there are many novelty locations which I would recommend.
Disney has many opportunities to participate in. They have a triathlon team, taking place in pride parade, and a volunteering programme which you can take part in both during and after work. Last year we worked with together for short lives and it felt great to be a part of that project.
