The Role
Very dynamic and meritocratic environment to be working in. Everyone is very friendly and approachable. The work is extremely challenging
Everyone is open to good questions and will take time to walk you through the problems you have (time dependent)
My manager was very supportive giving me daily feedback on my performance and guiding me through navigating the company
Extremely busy during the first few hours of the day but it would change a lot with the tempo on the desk so was rather dependent on how much flow there was at the time.
Limited responsibility mainly due to regulatory issues (normal for any trading internship). The project I was given was challenging and useful for Citi.
I used a lot of excel and also improved my Bloomberg and presentation skills at the same time with the weekly trading game.
The Company
Pleasant. Everyone is approachable but it is also very busy. I found it was the perfect balance between work and social
Very well structured. First week introduction was very good to catch up my knowledge before diving in and getting a desk specialism.
A whole week of training in the first week. This included not only just technical skills but also improving soft skills such as networking and presentation.
Subsidised Canteen
Very much so. Citi is such a large organisation there is always opportunities should you look in the right place.
The Culture
All the interns were very close together so it was easy to get on well as a team.
Expensive. This is expected since it is London but the costs are commensurate with the lifestyle.
Very nice but also rather expensive. However, you can always try whatever you want since London is so huge.
Limited due to the nature of the internship. It's so short that the time to get involved in outside work activities were limited.
