The Role
Currently still doing the internship and enjoying it a lot. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. They have all been easing me into my project and giving me advice whenever needed. I've also really enjoyed being able to sit in on meetings and presentations to learn a lot more and give me a real feel of what Citi is like.
Very much so. I've been given 2 main projects to focus on during my time and Citi and have been repeatedly told how important they are and how my ideas could potentially impact the team. It feels great actually working on projects that could make a great difference to Citi.
I have been given so much and support from all angles; my managers, the other people in the team, analysts and even people not in my team. I've found it a lot easier than I expected to approach people and ask for help, and they all check up on me and how I'm doing as well.
Very busy and always doing something new or interesting. I've been invited to so many meetings, presentations and more already during my time here, which have been great to both learn and break up the time that I'm busy researching and working with others on my project. I haven't had a dull day yet.
I would say I've been given the perfect amount of responsibility to help me ease into life at Citi. Having the chance to work on projects that could make a change is a great amount of responsibility but also not too much so to overwhelm a new intern. Hopefully I will eventually be able to take on even greater roles of responsibility at Citi.
A large part of my degree consists of research and writing reports, especially in a similar context of competitive scans, which is what my projects here consist of. Furthermore, I study various finance and economics modules within my degree and hence most of what I learn should hopefully be transferable.
The Company
the general atmosphere in the office is great. Everyone here seems to have found the perfect balance of work and play, as everyone works so hard together but also has a great time together. the office itself is lovely and I love how we are able to hot desk and work near different people everyday.
This internship has been so well organised by my managers. It's clear that they put a lot of thought into the projects I would be doing, the study material I would be taught and more. there is so much for me to do everyday and keep myself busy and learning.
The first week of the internship was almost completely training which was great as I got to know my bearings, who to speak to and understood what was expected of me. I still feel like they are investing in my and helping me learn and grow everyday as I continue to become more independent in my work.
I would love to work at Citi in the future. It seems like the perfect fit for me in terms of work, the people and the environment as a whole. I feel as though working here allows for one to constantly learn, grown and experience so many different fields of work within the banking industry.
The Culture
There is a great social scene amoungst myself, the other intern and the other analysts who have all been so friendly and welcoming to Citi. Even the people who have worked here for years make the effort to speak, socialise and ask if I need any help with anything I do.
The cost of working and socialising in Canary Wharf, and London as a whole is quite high. However, I have found that during this internship there are actually very many ways to socialise in this area on a budget. especially with things like Citi's lovely and reasonable canteen, a good place to eat and socialise.
