The Role
Really enjoying it so far. The energy industry is a unique and buzzing one to work in, and the amount I've been able to learn has been brilliant.
This has improved as time has gone on. At the start I wasnt very busy and felt invisible at times, but now I have so much I am responsible for and I feel like everyone knows who I am.
My manager was always keen to help me learn and provide guidance. Only reason it wasn't perfect is that often people are too busy to help right away, but they are always happy to help when they can.
A good balance. As time went on I had more to do, so it maybe started quietly, but it settled at a good level and I never felt overworked.
I was given responsibility for my own little projects to work on, but never felt responsible for anything majorly important.
Definitely helped me to learn about the kind of thing I could do after graduating. The crossover between my degree and my job wasnt huge, but the skills I gained were extremely useful for the future (presenting, excel skills etc)
The Company
Relaxed, friendly and convivial. Great!
No set structure coming in, but this was good because I was allowed to work on what I was interested in. I was also checked on to see if I was settled and enjoying my placement.
Helped me to learn and gain skills in areas that were important, particularly excel.
I think I would enjoy working for this company. The friendliness in the office is the main reason.
The Culture
Was only made aware of other interns four weeks in, and even then they worked in different departments and so didn't really get to know them.
Average for living in a major city outside of london. As expected.
Brighton has a great nightlife!
None so far.
