The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time working at IBM, both my direct and wider team were friendly, fun and knowledgeable, and the intern community is fantastic. I was trusted, respected and guided during my year, given real responsibility and gained insight into the company and into myself. Working in London was amazing and I can safely say this was the best year of my life to date.
I felt extremely valued by my team and often was directly reminded of this by them. I was given tasks which bore real weight and responsibility, which if I didn't do properly had significant consequences. I was frequently asked for my opinion and always trusted to do my work on time and to a good standard without being 'micro-managed' throughout.
My task manager was my main source of supervision/guidance and was fantastic, he was always a phone call away for any questions and 100% approachable. We also are assigned an Early professionals manager however I found I didn't use that relationship particularly, however I'm sure if I had any problems throughout the year I could have.
I'd estimate that for roughly 80% of my days throughout the year, I had work to do that completely filled my day, sometimes across holiday periods there were 'lulls' but this was nice as it meant I could have a bit of a rest. I was never bored or waiting around, if you feel you have spare time at IBM there is ALWAYS someone/something to get involved in.
I was given a good amount of responsibility, which increased as the year went on. I was fully responsible for several processes throughout the year, and then from the 7th month mark was given a big project to own and run by myself. This was great as my confidence had been built up to be able to handle this toward the end of my year.
I learnt more at IBM that I will be able to use toward any career than I have at university. The level of exposure I gained to how a modern corporate business runs alone was more preparation for a future role than I already had. I was allowed to take courses in coding and attend events about sales skills etc all throughout the year. I will be using insights I gained at IBM to help me write my dissertation next year.
The Company
Great atmosphere/intern community, my team was a sales team and extremely fun/hardworking. Monday's and Friday's were very quiet in the office however as lots of people work from home.
Very well, IBM is well practiced in this, and they have an entire separate entity 'Foundation' which owns and looks after the interns.
A fair amount, I was able to attend courses, do online learning and take days out to attend events which taught me a great deal.

We are given ample opportunity to advance our potential position at securing a grad role, we can apply in advance of leaving, encourage important network connections to advocate for us and wow in our final presentations in order to heighten our chances. However nothing is a guarantee, but we gain great insight into the grad scheme by mixing with grads so can decide if we think its 'for us'.
The Culture
Yes fantastic intern community and London is an amazing place to live/work.
Pretty expensive, its central London...
Great, loads of bars and clubs a short journey away.
There is the IBM social clubs, sports clubs and the corporate games, so yes.
