The Role
Working at BMW Group UK has given me lots of opportunity to work around the business and get involved with lots of events. Everyday is different and I have enjoyed the challenges that I have been given over the year.
I have felt like a real member of the team. You aren't treated like an intern, you are treated as a team member that they really rely on.
The managers have been happy to given feedback and support over the year. There are also mentors and execs that are there to look after placement students.
My days varied massively throughout the year. I went into a new role and they had not planned what I was going to be doing. I found this as an opportunity to get involved with other projects not directly related to my role.
I was given a great deal of responsibility, from managing a fleet held at Summit ONE to designing a retailer infonet.
I have developed as an individual over my placement year, by learning how to speak and work one to one with directors and developing a wider business knowledge.
The Company
The office has a very good culture, with flexible working hours, mobile working and a casual dress code. There is always things going on from summer bbqs and ping pong tables in the office.
Personally my placement could have been better organised by my team and manager.
At BMW you have the opportunity to attend lots of different training free of charge. I went on technical training for electric vehicles and also attended a coaching and managing course.
Flexi Time
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
I would definitely consider working at BMW in the future.
The Culture
Yes, the placement students regularly met up at weekends and went out as a group.
The area of Hampshire and Surrey is quite expensive for living and socialising.
There is a few different areas to go out at, such as Guildford, Reading, Camberley and Fleet.
There is always internal communicatons to get involved with things outside of work, such as a running club and charity work.
